The challenge
Building engagement around an emerging project was a key dissemination challenge for BeOpen. At the start of the project, the tools, pilots and digital services were still under development, making it difficult to communicate concrete benefits and attract stakeholders.
To create interest and build a community while results were still being developed, BeOpen successfully increased its visibility through active participation in events, dynamic and communication campaigns targetting public administrations and collaboration with European initiatives.
By focusing on targeted communication, BeOpen reached over 120 contact points and collaborations mainly from public administrations in Europe.
The solution
BeOpen developed tools and methods to improve the quality and accessibility of public sector data while helping organisations to transform their datasets into High-Value Datasets. The project also adapted its communication to the needs of public administrations, using practical examples, events and demonstrations to make the project's benefits easier to understand.
Working closely with its pilots and European partners helped increase visibility, strengthen stakeholder engagement and support the adoption of the BeOpen framework.
To encourage public administrations to recognise the value of transforming their data into High-Value Data (HVDs) and to promote the adoption of the BeOpen framework, we have increased the project's visibility, raise awareness, and educate stakeholders.

BeOpen became a DEDEP.eu Inspiring Story thanks to its stakeholder-focused dissemination approach. Despite starting with few concrete results to communicate, the project successfully built a growing European community through targeted communication, collaboration with public administrations and active participation in events.
Its experience shows how adapting communication to the needs of the target audience and engaging stakeholders from the beginning can strengthen dissemination and support the long-term adoption of project results.
