This strand aims to strengthen the EU’s cybersecurity capacities through the creation of advanced threat detection, incident response, and cybersecurity preparedness. This objective is primarily implemented by ECCC, which is responsible for coordinating cybersecurity activities at the EU level. Actions include the establishment of National Security Operation Centres (SOCs) and net-working them at a European level, including the building of cross-border platforms. The ECCC is also tasked with actions addressing the shortage of cybersecurity skills in Europe through the Cybersecurity Skills Academy.
The EC and the implementing body shall collaborate with Member States to support the building-up and procurement of advanced cybersecurity equipment, tools and data in-frastructures, in order to achieve a high common level of cybersecurity at European level, in full compliance with data protection legislation and fundamental rights, while ensuring the strategic autonomy of the Union. In addition, the topics under this SO cover the deployment of effective state-of-the-art cybersecurity solutions across the European economy, paying special attention to public authorities and SMEs. The Regulation establishing the European Cybersecurity Industrial, Technology and Research Competence Centre and the Network of National Coordination Centres also includes facilitating cooperation between the civil and defence sectors in dual-use projects, services, competences and applications in cybersecurity.
Target users and value proposition
- National cybersecurity authorities and competence centres
- SMEs
- Infrastructure operators & digital service providers
- Research organisations
- Public authorities and policy-makers
Considering the above-mentioned set of stakeholders, DEDEP.eu is able to provide guidance and tools for the funded projects to effectively disseminate their results to their stakeholders, ensuring visibility and broader adoption of solutions. DEDEP.eu can facilitate connections between projects and relevant actors such as national authorities, SMEs, research institutions, and policymakers. Along with the small set of funded projects, DEDEP.eu can lay the groundwork to establish a set of standard actions to be implemented by a single or cluster of projects to enable better collaboration and increase the likelihood of stakeholder buy-in. DEDEP.eu will support funded projects in organising webinars, workshops, and training sessions targeted at their users. These activities will help projects enhance their technical capacity and raise awareness about their cybersecurity solutions. Through surveys, focus groups, and consultations, DEDEP.eu can enable funded projects to collect feedback from stakeholders. This will help refine their offerings and ensure alignment with end-user needs. DEDEP.eu can also support in bridging gaps and provide resources and insights to help pro-jects meet European digital standards and interoperability requirements, facilitating cross-border deployment and integration of cybersecurity solutions, by strengthening connections with relevant initiatives which are operational in ICT standardisation domains. The design of a potential results platform for DIGITAL will serve as a repository for project outcomes, providing a one-stop shop for stakeholders to access reports, guidelines, and tools. This would ensure transparency and ease of access for policymakers and industry players alike.
