The Impact
SEEBLOCKS.eu delivered targeted, democratic, industry-driven initiative to support European interests in standardisation within the Blockchain/DLT domain, bringing together EU researchers and open standards specialists.
The challenge
Blockchain and DLT standardisation in Europe is highly fragmented, with limited coordination between researchers, industry and policy actors. European stakeholders often have a weaker presence in international standardisation bodies, making it difficult to influence global frameworks.
In addition, there was a need to structure expert participation, ensure continuous engagement, and translate complex technical discussions into actionable standardisation outputs.
Through 4 Selection and Engagement Procedures (SEPs), the project supported European Blockchain experts and contributed to over 100 standardisation documents.
The solution
SEEBLOCKS.eu built a European expert network connecting researchers, industry representatives and policymakers around Blockchain and DLT standardisation. Through dedicated funding procedures, the project enabled experts to contribute to standardisation activities while strengthening coordination through a Permanent Task Force and specialised working groups.
The project also analysed the Blockchain/DLT standardisation landscape to identify key gaps and guide future contributions. Through its standards visualisation tool, SEEBLOCKS.eu made complex standardisation topics more accessible and supported knowledge sharing across the European community.
