Europe's ability to remain competitive and sovereign in the defence sector increasingly depends on its capacity to collaborate securely across borders, industrial and institutional stakeholders, and technologies — underpinned by a reusable digital collaboration infrastructure. This is the challenge that AEROSEC, funded under the Digital Europe Programme's cybersecurity strand, has set out to address.
On 17 November 2026, from 14:00 to 17:00 CET, AEROSEC will hold its first Public Workshop, in hybrid format, at the BIP Meeting Center in Brussels. This inaugural event offers a first public presentation of how the project is laying the foundations for secure, multi-cloud common working environments across the European defence ecosystem, bringing together the user perspective, strategic vision, and technical approach that underpin its development.
What to expect
The workshop is structured around four core questions that together trace the project's trajectory from ambition to implementation:
- Where is AEROSEC heading? Participants will be introduced to the project's overarching vision, its Global Services, and the benefits it anticipates delivering to the wider European defence ecosystem.
- What is AEROSEC building? The session will present the project's features and demonstrator, alongside the technological choices that inform their design.
- How will it work? Attendees will gain insight into the emerging agnostic architecture underpinning AEROSEC's infrastructure, and the key design assumptions guiding its evolution.
- What comes next? The workshop will close with a look ahead to the project's future direction, including the strategy shaping AEROSEC 2.
Throughout the afternoon, dedicated Q&A sessions will give participants the opportunity to engage directly with the AEROSEC consortium, ensuring the event remains a genuine dialogue rather than a one-directional presentation.
Why register
This workshop is a timely opportunity for researchers, industry representatives, public authorities, and policymakers to understand how AEROSEC can contribute to Europe's competitiveness, resilience, and capacity for secure, cross-border collaboration and, more specifically, how it can support the development of European Defence Fund (EDF) projects. For those following the evolution of secure digital infrastructure in sensitive sectors, it offers a rare, early look at a project moving from design into demonstration, with a direct channel to engage with its consortium as it advances toward its next phase.
Registration is open to both in-person and online participants. The detailed agenda, including the online connection link, will be sent following registration.
